Eau Noire wears its thyme openly from the start — a scrubland herb under hard sun. Underneath the opening, liquorice deepens into a chewy black ribbon of sugar, and vanilla answers as pod flesh warmed to treacle darkness. Around the edges, cedarwood moves through as the lofty grain of cedar from tibet, while lavender drifts alongside as blue blossoms with cool camphor shadows. In the end it is warm and edible, a sweet, herbal core weighted with dry woods.
